This year Brodie has upgraded the Romax Steel‑G to Reynolds 725 tubing for a smoother ride and lower weight. Reynolds 725 is a heat‑treated, high‑performance chromoly steel known as an industry sweet spot—delivering classic steel comfort with significantly less weight than non‑heat‑treated tubes. Compliant while being tight and snappy rather than limp and noodley.
It’s roughly 50% stronger than Reynolds 525 or standard 4130 chromoly while also being lighter. The chromium content boosts hardenability and corrosion resistance, and the butted tube walls stay thicker at the joints for strength and thinner in the center to reduce weight without sacrificing stiffness or durability.
The result is excellent impact toughness, compliance, and load‑carrying reliability for rough terrain—ideal for gravel adventures and light and fast trips.
